Boeing is set to report highest airplane deliveries since 2018, marking a turnaround from safety crises and production issues. The aerospace giant is planning to increase production after stabilizing operations. CEO Kelly Ortberg is optimistic about profitability with plans to ramp up 737 Max and 787 Dreamliners production.
Boeing handed over 537 aircraft in the first 11 months of 2025, with December delivery numbers pending. The FAA raised production cap on 737 Max to 42 per month. CFO Jay Malave expects production to reach that rate in early 2026. Deliveries are crucial for revenue, with some planes like the Max 7 facing certification delays. Southwest Airlines awaits the Max 7 for lower-demand routes. Demand for Boeing and Airbus jets remains strong, with Bernstein analyst Douglas Harned predicting supply to lag behind demand into the next decade. Through November, Boeing received 1,000 gross orders compared to Airbus’ 797. Alaska Airlines recently ordered 105 Boeing 737 Max 10 jets and five 787 Dreamliners to expand international routes. The wide-body aircraft market is gaining momentum, with orders being delivered faster to customers, according to Bank of America analyst Ron Epstein. Airlines are eyeing long-haul jets like the Dreamliner and A330/A350 to meet growing travel demand, especially in the high-end international market post-pandemic. In November, global airplanes flew at 84% capacity, the highest on record, as demand for new jets to replace older ones continues to drive growth in the airline industry.
