Danish Crown plans to expand pork processing capacity in Denmark with a new facility in Vejen due to increased pig supplies. The site will create 100 jobs and produce products for export to Asia. Operations begin on October 1, deboning 60,000 pork fore ends weekly sourced from Danish Crown slaughterhouses.

The investment in the new facility follows an internal reorganisation at Danish Crown, splitting the core business into three divisions. The expansion aims to increase efficiency and reduce complexity at abattoirs. Regulatory approvals are being sought, with production expected to start on a two-shift basis from October 1.

Danish Crown is prioritizing fresh sales in Europe and frozen exports worldwide. The company’s CEO expressed excitement over hiring more employees, attributing the need for expansion to increased pig slaughter. The Vejen plant will occupy part of a 14,000 square meter area acquired in 2023, utilizing existing Danish Crown buildings.
