Higher sugar production in Brazil is bearish for prices, with a 0.9% y/y increase in cumulative 2025-26 Center-South sugar output reported. Covrig Analytics raised its 2025/26 global sugar surplus estimate to 4.7 MMT. Citigroup projects $1.2 billion inflow in sugar futures contracts for index rebalancing. Brazil’s 2026/27 sugar production is expected to fall by -3.91%. India’s sugar production for 2025-26 jumped 25% y/y. India may permit additional sugar exports to reduce a domestic supply glut. The USDA projected record global sugar production of 189.318 MMT in 2025/26.
