Senator Mitch McConnell disclosed selling shares of Luminar Technologies at a loss in 2025, with transactions made by his spouse. The lidar company declared bankruptcy, trading OTC after previously being on Nasdaq. McConnell’s wife, Elaine Chao, was named to the Luminar Automotive Council. McConnell reported owning $15,000 to $50,000 in Luminar stock in 2024. On June 26, 2025, Luminar shares traded at $2.95, down 45.2% from 2024. On Dec. 24, 2025, shares traded at $0.169, down 96.9% from 2024. McConnell missed out on $14,528.83 by not selling in 2024. Transactions were disclosed under McConnell’s name due to the STOCK Act.
