Global energy investor Samos Energy has purchased the Suksan Salamander FSO unit from Altera Infrastructure Group, currently in use at the Bualuang oilfield offshore Thailand. The FSO, registered under the flag of the Bahamas, has a capacity of 78,228 deadweight tonnes and will be managed by FPSO Ventures post-acquisition.

Samos Energy’s acquisition of the Suksan Salamander FSO aligns with its strategy to enhance its offshore production assets. The company aims to expand its fleet and acquire new exploration, production, midstream, and power platforms through new equity and debt facilities. The partnership with FPSO Ventures ensures operational efficiency and safety standards at the Bualuang oilfield.

The Suksan Salamander FSO, with a double-hull design, can store 470,000 barrels of crude oil, process 20,000 barrels per day, and offload at a rate of 20,000 barrels per day. The acquisition marks a significant step in Samos Energy’s goal to strengthen its portfolio in South East Asia and support operations at the Bualuang oilfield.
