DOF Group secures a contract with MODEC Guyana for mooring pre-lay services for the Hammerhead FPSO project. The project is valued as “large turnkey” and will commence offshore operations between Q2 and Q3 2027, using the Skandi Implementer and Skandi Skansen vessels.

MODEC oversees the engineering, procurement, construction, and installation of the FPSO vessel for the Hammerhead project. ExxonMobil Guyana awarded the contract in September 2025. This comes after ExxonMobil’s recent announcement of a final investment decision on the $6.8bn offshore project.

The Hammerhead FPSO, under construction, will operate at a water depth of 1,025m using a SOFEC Spread Mooring system. It will have a storage capacity of 1,600,000 barrels and produce 150,000 barrels of oil per day, with first oil expected in 2029.

The project includes 18 production and injection wells, making it the seventh project on the Stabroek block. ExxonMobil Guyana holds a 45% interest, with Chevron and CNOOC Petroleum Guyana owning stakes of 30% and 25%, respectively.
