Materials stocks rose 0.9% with record high gold prices. Energy shares increased by 0.6%, driven by favorable fourth-quarter results. Tech stocks fell 2.2% ahead of the BoC decision. U.S. Federal Reserve Chair Powell’s testimonies also eyed. Lithium Americas Corp shares dropped 1.5% after an acquisition announcement.
