Apple is planning a major redesign of Siri to become a full AI chatbot on iPhone, iPad, and Mac, aiming to compete with OpenAI and Google. The new system, named Campos, will launch in 2026, offering conversational interactions like ChatGPT and Gemini. Siri’s upgrade will be unveiled in June and released in September.
The chatbot is key to Apple’s AI strategy reset after a slow rollout in 2024. A limited Siri upgrade will precede the full chatbot launch in 2026, enhancing features like on-screen analysis and improved web search. Apple will prioritize performance in iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27.
Apple tested the chatbot as a standalone app but will integrate it into their platforms. Competitors’ rapid adoption of AI has pressured Apple to respond. The revamped Siri will handle tasks like web searches, content creation, and file analysis, enhancing user interactions across Apple’s core apps.
The upgraded Siri may reduce reliance on Spotlight search by offering more natural ways to find and act on information. Apple’s embrace of conversational AI signals a shift in its ecosystem. AAPL trades at $250.51 on NasdaqGS, up 1.15%. The author’s views do not reflect Nasdaq, Inc.
