TMC the metals company Inc. (NASDAQ:TMC) saw a 30.39% increase in share prices last week after seeking regulatory approval for exploration in international waters of the Clarion Clipperton Zone. The company submitted an application to NOAA for a license and permit for a 65,000-square-kilometer area.

Chairman and CEO Gerard Barron stated that the application represents years of work and could yield over 800 million tonnes of nodules containing high-grade minerals. Despite previous controversy for bypassing Canada, TMC clarified that the submission was made through its US subsidiary.
