Nissan Motor has agreed to sell its underperforming manufacturing facilities in South Africa to Chery Automobile, following a 20% drop in sales to 8,700 vehicles in 2025. Chery SA will purchase the Rosslyn plant, including equipment, with a production capacity of 45,000 vehicles annually, offering jobs to most employees on similar terms.
After the completion of the sale expected by mid-2026, Nissan will continue offering vehicles and services in South Africa, with new launches planned for fiscal year 2026. Nissan Africa’s president, Jordi Vila, stated the agreement with Chery SA will secure employment for the majority of the workforce and contribute to the South African automotive sector.
