Soybean futures saw a slight increase on Monday morning, with front months up 3 to 4 cents at close on Friday. Cash bean prices rose to $9.98 ¾. Export sales data showed a marketing year high, with China as the largest buyer. Brazil’s soybean crop is estimated at 4.9% harvested.
Soybean meal sales were on the higher side of estimates at 412,671 MT, while soybean oil sales were at 10,499 MT. CFTC data showed spec traders in soybean futures trimming contracts to 10,060. Brazil’s soybean crop estimate was raised to 181 MMT.
Soybean futures closed at $10.67 3/4 for March, up 3 3/4 cents, while nearby cash was $9.98 3/4. May and July soybean futures also saw slight increases. Brazil’s soybean crop is ahead of last year’s pace at 4.9% harvested.
