EU Officials Look Into Latest Apple-Epic Games Spat

European Commission officials plan to question Apple over its decision to block Epic Games’ developer account on the app store, sparking a new conflict. Apple had removed Fortnite in 2020 due to Epic’s breach of contractual obligations. Apple’s Phil Schiller expressed doubts about Epic’s compliance with regulations, leading to termination of Epic Games Sweden AB’s membership. The EU antitrust watchdog is seeking further explanations under the DMA. Epic Games is exploring other options to relaunch Fortnite on iOS.
