UnitedHealth Group’s profit for 2025 fell due to Medicare funding reductions and costs from a cyberattack. Net earnings dropped to $12.1bn, a 16% decrease from the previous year. Revenue increased by 12% to $447.5bn, with various segments like Medicare & Retirement seeing growth.
Quarterly earnings for Q4 were $10m, up from $5.5bn last year. Revenues rose to $113.2bn. 2026 revenue projection is over $439bn, with earnings expected to exceed $24bn. CEO Stephen Hemsley stated the company finished 2025 stronger and aims to improve core performance.
A US Senate Judiciary Committee investigation alleged UnitedHealth Group used aggressive tactics to boost Medicare Advantage payments. The Trump administration proposed a 0.09% payment increase for private insurers managing Medicare Advantage plans, expecting over $700m in extra payments by 2027.
