The SEC approved Nasdaq’s proposal for Monday/Wednesday expiration dates on options for Qualifying Securities, including Alphabet, Amazon, Apple, Meta, Microsoft, Nvidia, Tesla, Broadcom, and iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF.
Previously, only certain ETFs had daily expirations, but now Nasdaq can offer more flexibility for options traders with Monday and Wednesday expirations in addition to Fridays.
David Barrett, Nasdaq’s Head of U.S. Options Product Strategy, discussed the benefits of these changes, including shorter-dated options being preferred by traders for more efficient pricing and better risk profiles.
Nasdaq carefully selected securities for the new expiration program based on stringent qualifications, including market cap, trading volume, position limits, and participation in the Penny Interval Program.
Future trends may involve expanding the program to more securities based on customer demand, maintaining investor protection, and market quality in a responsible manner. Options involve risk and suitability considerations for investors. 1. The stock market hit record highs today, with the S&P 500 reaching a new peak of 4,500 points. This surge was fueled by strong corporate earnings and positive economic data.
2. In other news, the latest unemployment numbers show a decrease in jobless claims, with only 300,000 new claims filed last week. This is the lowest number since the start of the pandemic.
3. On the international front, tensions are rising between Russia and Ukraine, with reports of increased military activity along the border. The situation is being closely monitored by world leaders.
4. In more positive news, researchers have made a breakthrough in the fight against cancer, developing a new treatment that has shown promising results in clinical trials. This development offers hope for millions of patients worldwide.
5. Lastly, the weather forecast predicts a heatwave in the coming days, with temperatures expected to soar above 100 degrees in some regions. Officials are urging residents to take precautions to stay safe and cool during the extreme heat.
