Global energy technology firm SLB has secured two five-year contracts from Petroleum Development Oman (PDO), supplying wellheads and artificial lift systems for operations in Block-6, Oman’s largest oil and gas concession. The contracts focus on advanced recovery technologies and in-country value, supporting Oman’s efforts to sustain output from aging reservoirs.
SLB will deliver various wellhead systems and pump technologies designed to increase recovery rates and extend field life in Block-6. Localization is a key aspect of the contracts, with manufacturing and assembly taking place in Oman, supporting hundreds of local jobs and expanding domestic manufacturing capabilities.
Advanced solutions like the 15k SOLIDrill wellhead system and real-time ESP surveillance technologies will be deployed to improve operational efficiency and reduce downtime. SLB aims to enhance Oman’s energy future through in-country value and talent development, reinforcing its position as a technology partner in the region.
The contracts come as Oman intensifies efforts to sustain oil output above one million barrels per day through enhanced oil recovery and digitalization. SLB’s role as a long-term technology partner in the region is solidified, supporting Oman’s goal of maximizing mature assets alongside new discoveries for long-term sustainability.
