Uber and Baidu are set to launch autonomous ride-hailing services in Dubai next month, expanding on their partnership to deploy thousands of Baidu’s Apollo Go autonomous vehicles on the Uber platform worldwide. Baidu’s Apollo Go robotaxi service has already completed over 17 million rides in Chinese cities and has a global presence in 22 cities. In addition to Dubai, Baidu has also teamed up with Lyft to deploy robotaxis in Europe and is planning trials for its driverless taxi services in the UK this year. Passengers in Dubai will soon have the option to be matched with an Apollo Go vehicle when booking an Uber ride.
