Apple Inc. has acquired AI startup DarwinAI, known for its vision-based technology to improve manufacturing efficiency. The deal, not publicly announced, has resulted in DarwinAI team members, including Alexander Wong, joining Apple’s AI division. This acquisition aligns with Apple’s strategy to integrate AI into its products and introduce on-device generative AI features in iOS 18.

The acquisition of DarwinAI by Apple underscores the tech giant’s commitment to advancing its AI capabilities. DarwinAI, which had backing from investors like BDC Capital and Honeywell Ventures, brings expertise in machine vision intelligence that will enhance Apple’s AI capabilities for on-device deployment.
