Talisman Metals has agreed to acquire the Tirzzit Copper Project in Morocco from Aya Silver & Gold through its subsidiary, Horizons Mines. The project covers 16.5km² east of Agadir, with a purchase price of $21,872. The site is 85km from Talisman’s Tizert Project, and includes mining licences expiring in 2028.
The Tirzzit deposit is a sediment-hosted stratiform copper-silver system in Morocco’s Adoudou Formation, known for its mineral resources. Talisman plans to re-register the licences through its Moroccan subsidiary post-acquisition. CEO Tim McCutcheon stated the acquisition enhances their project pipeline and they will assess development plans based on historical exploration data.
Talisman’s acquisition of the Tirzzit Copper Project in Morocco expands their project portfolio with potential upside from historical exploration work. The move aligns with their strategy to focus on earlier-stage copper projects. The company plans to evaluate the existing data to determine the project’s development plan and update shareholders accordingly.
