A demo by Figure AI showcased a humanoid robot conversing in real-time thanks to ChatGPT and OpenAI, performing chores simultaneously. The robot, known as ‘Figure 01,’ uses speech-to-speech reasoning with OpenAI’s VLM model and system learning for every behavior, making it seem real without pre-programmed actions.

The development of humanoid robots sees progress with generative AI, particularly in the collaboration between Figure and OpenAI. Backed by tech giants like Microsoft, Nvidia, and Amazon’s Jeff Bezos, Figure AI aims to compete directly with Elon Musk’s Tesla Optimus humanoid robot.

While the Figure AI robot seems promising, Ameca, another humanoid AI robot, appears more advanced, even capable of celebrity impressions. However, the Figure robot can learn tasks by observation, indicating the dawn of either a robot uprising or a leap in human technological advancement.
