From Pulsenews:
OpenAI is seeking partnerships with Korean chipmakers like Samsung Electronics Co. and SK hynix Inc. CEO Sam Altman visited Korea twice in the past six months, expressing interest in collaborating with them on semiconductor projects. Altman revealed this during an event in San Francisco aimed at fostering collaboration between Korean startups and OpenAI.
The company’s focus on developing artificial general intelligence (AGI) was highlighted, with industry experts like Bill Gates and Elon Musk predicting the AGI era within 5 to 10 years. OpenAI is open to global partnerships, including potential ventures into chip manufacturing with Samsung Electronics and SK hynix. GPT-5, the next ChatGPT version, is expected to show improved performance and advanced reasoning capabilities.
Altman mentioned the benefits of AI models for scientific breakthroughs and economic growth, emphasizing the need for efficient learning with limited data. He expressed concern about AI learning surpassing human-generated data, but believes AI agents that understand human speech and tasks are still far off.
