Fintech startup Stripe is considering acquiring PayPal, Bloomberg reports. Talks are in early stages, with options ranging from a full purchase to selective acquisition of parts of PayPal’s business. Potential assets involved could include Braintree or Venmo. Both companies declined to comment. PayPal’s stock has declined over 19% this year, making it a potential target for Stripe. Stripe, valued at $159 billion, dwarfs PayPal’s market cap of $43 billion. PayPal shares traded at about $47 on Wednesday morning, up almost 14% in the last five days.
