Altman confirmed on a podcast that Musk left OpenAI because he thought it would fail and wanted full control. Despite speculation that OpenAI chose to part ways with Musk, Altman clarified that it was Musk’s decision to leave, wanting total control over the company.
Musk suggested in old emails that OpenAI should be merged with Tesla, wanting full control. OpenAI released the emails and responded to Musk’s lawsuit, claiming there was no agreement with him and calling it “fictional.” Altman shared old Twitter exchanges with Musk, reminding him of past support.
