OpenAI is looking to break into the movie industry by integrating its generative model Sora into Hollywood productions. The developer of ChatGPT has started talks with film studios and given advanced access to notable Hollywood figures for exploration of the technology’s capabilities.

OpenAI initiated Hollywood conversations in February, shortly after unveiling Sora. CEO Sam Altman and COO Brad Lightcap have been leading negotiations, with big-name actors and directors testing the generative AI technology. OpenAI aims for safe implementation and ongoing dialogue with artists.

The use of generative AI in film sparked discussions during recent industry strikes.
