Inside the Agreement to Provide to ChatGPT
From Portada Online:
OpenAI reached an exclusive agreement with PRISA Media to provide Spanish content for ChatGPT. The deal mirrors one with French media Le Monde. The partnership covers El País, Cinco Días, AS, and Huffpost, enabling users to engage with quality current affairs content in Spanish and French. This also enhances AI model training.
ChatGPT users will access selected summaries of PRISA and Le Monde content. Responses will include links to the original articles for more information. This aligns with recent agreements signed by OpenAI with Associated Press and Axel Springer. The exclusivity with PRISA and Le Monde does not involve other major IA players for the time being.
ChatGPT has a significant user base, with 180.5 million users currently estimated and potentially higher numbers. About 35% of users come from five countries. The platform is increasingly focusing on personalized responses in Spanish, providing summaries and direct access to PRISA content.
PRISA’s partnership benefits economically by safeguarding its interests and intellectual property through ChatGPT. Users will receive summaries with links to full articles. Exclusivity for Spanish content worldwide enhances brand recognition and credibility. Future collaborations with other AI players are envisaged by PRISA.
The collaboration between PRISA Media and ChatGPT emphasizes the importance of truth-based reporting. U.S.-based Spanish-language publishers face challenges in reaching users effectively, as they struggle to gain visibility on major platforms like Google. Leveraging AI technologies can support improved journalism and audience engagement.
