Ford Mustang has opportunity as competitors abandon V8 engines

From CNBC: 2024-03-27 07:00:01

Ford is optimistic about growing Mustang sales as its competitors cease production of V8 muscle cars. Changing consumer demand, fuel economy rules, and the rise of electric vehicles have impacted the market. Ford has introduced new V8 models for the seventh-generation Mustang, including the Dark Horse and GT, with plans for a supercharged 5.2-liter V8 model in 2025.

The seventh-generation Ford Mustang is now available internationally in 85 markets. Non-U.S. sales have helped offset declining domestic demand. Ford has sold over 235,000 Mustangs internationally since 2015, with top markets being Canada, Australia, and Europe. Future product plans for the Mustang, including hybrids and all-electric versions, remain undisclosed.
