Sinopec, TotalEnergies In Deal For Sustainable Aviation Fuel Production

China Petroleum & Chemical Corp. (Sinopec) has partnered with France’s TotalEnergies to produce sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) from waste oils at one of Sinopec’s refineries in China. The joint venture aims for an annual production capacity of 230,000 tons. TotalEnergies plans to produce 1.5 million tons of SAF annually by 2030 as part of its carbon reduction strategy. China’s Zhenhai Refining & Chemicals facility achieved Asia’s first Global RSB biomass-based SAF certification in 2022. Sinopec also signed a memorandum of understanding with Thailand’s Ministry of Commerce for market expansion collaboration.
