In September 2023, Jony Ive and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman collaborated on an AI project dubbed the “iPhone of AI.”

Meetings took place at Ive’s San Francisco studio to brainstorm a consumer product incorporating OpenAI tech, as per The Financial Times.

SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son was reportedly part of the discussions, emphasizing ARM’s role and providing financial support – SoftBank holds a 90% stake in ARM.
