Musk visits Beijing as Tesla’s China-made cars pass security rules

Elon Musk attended the Viva Technology conference in Paris. Tesla’s China-made cars passed data security requirements, leading to the removal of restrictions by local Chinese authorities. Other electric vehicles, including those from BYD, Lotus, Li Auto, and Nio, also passed the requirements set by China’s authorities. Musk’s visit to China raised expectations for Tesla’s Full Self Driving software, despite challenges in rolling out a supervised version in the country. Musk’s visit coincided with Premier Li’s attendance at the Beijing auto show, where he encouraged innovation and demand to drive production. Tesla did not exhibit at the auto show, a decision made since a protester stood on one of its cars during the 2021 show in Shanghai.
