OpenAI announced that its AI chatbot, ChatGPT, now offers a Memory feature to ChatGPT Plus users. This feature allows the chatbot to remember user-supplied insights for future conversations, making responses more personalized and efficient. The Memory feature can be turned on or off in settings and is not yet available in Europe or Korea.

In a demo video, ChatGPT saves personal information from the user to Memory, such as pets’ names and upcoming vacation plans. This allows the chatbot to generate relevant responses without users having to repeat certain details. OpenAI tested the feature earlier this year and has now implemented improvements based on user feedback. Users can easily manage their memories by editing or removing them in settings.

The Memory feature is part of ChatGPT Plus subscription, priced at $20 per month, with availability for Team, Enterprise, and GPTS users expected in the future. In addition, ChatGPT offers a Custom Instructions feature to prevent repetitive typing of instructions. Users have the option to turn both Memory and Custom Instructions on or off in their profile settings.
