Warren Buffett’s annual shopping event at Berkshire Hathaway’s annual meeting draws shareholders to Omaha with over 50,000 items in inventory from various holding companies like Brooks Running and See’s Candies. Shareholders can enjoy special discounts on items only available at the event. The meeting will be broadcast exclusively on CNBC.
Jazwares, known for Squishmallows, expanded its exhibit at the conference, including Squishmallow toys of Buffett and Munger. The company’s display featured a Squishmallow pit and other highlights for attendees to enjoy at the event in Omaha.
Ahead of the Berkshire Hathaway Annual Shareholders Meeting, only one book was on sale: “Poor Charlie’s Almanack,” in honor of Charles T. Munger who had passed away. The Bookworm complied with Buffett’s request to honor his late business partner for over 60 years.
At the Friday shopping event in Omaha, FlightSafety, acquired by Berkshire in 1996, displayed its pilot training program. Shareholders had the opportunity to try out flight simulation training by putting on VR glasses to experience a taste of professional pilot training.
Pilot Travel Centers showcased a real-sized truck at the conference, highlighting its status as the largest travel center operator in North America with over 750 locations. Berkshire acquired the remaining 20% ownership from the Haslam family, amidst drama involving a lawsuit alleging unauthorized accounting practices.
Duracell, acquired by Berkshire in 2016 from Procter & Gamble, showcased its battery products at the annual meeting. The acquisition of Duracell was part of a deal offering $4.7 billion in Berkshire shares to P&G in exchange for the battery maker.
Brooks Running attracted shareholders with its special edition shoes featuring “brk” and a cartoon of Buffett. Shareholders also participated in the “Invest in Yourself” 5K fun run after the annual meeting, enjoying the exclusive running shoes and accessories.
Warren Buffett’s ownership of Dairy Queen since 1998 in a $600 million deal was highlighted at the meeting. The billionaire investor has visited Omaha locations with his great-grandchildren, enjoying his favorite vanilla soft serve with chocolate syrup and malted milk powder, according to The Wall Street Journal.
