Churchill Downs Incorporated celebrated a new Kentucky Oaks Day handle record with Thorpedo Anna’s victory in the 150th Longines Kentucky Oaks, attracting over 107,236 race goers despite cloudy skies. Wagering on the full race day card set a record of $75.3 million, with $21.7 million on the Oaks race itself. Thorpedo Anna won by 4 ¾ lengths in 1:50.83, bringing in $1.4 million in lifetime earnings for her owners. The race also raised money for women’s health initiatives and welcomed 150 survivors for the annual parade, featuring country star Lana Scott. The initiative has raised over $1.5 million.
