AWS has made its generative AI assistant, Amazon Q, available for enterprise use. Amazon Q is designed to accelerate software development and utilize internal data within companies. Q Business, the enterprise version, offers capabilities such as answering queries, providing summaries, and executing tasks securely. This innovation aims to enhance creativity, leverage data-driven insights, and boost productivity.
Daisy is reportedly finalizing a merger with IT solutions provider Wavenet, valued at close to £1 billion. The merger will involve Daisy being demerged from Daisy Group and merged into Wavenet, creating the UK’s largest independent provider of managed IT services. The combined company will have over 2,000 employees and 20,000 UK enterprise clients.
Emails revealed in the US Justice Department’s antitrust case against Google suggest that Microsoft’s investment in OpenAI was driven by concerns about Google’s advancements in AI. Microsoft’s concern was triggered by Google’s superior progress in natural language processing models and areas where Google outpaced Microsoft’s AI research. This prompted Microsoft to invest in OpenAI to stay competitive in the AI space.
Microsoft is enhancing the offline capabilities of OneDrive to improve productivity and collaboration. Users will now be able to interact with various views and open locally stored files even when offline. In addition, Microsoft Outlook users will soon have the option to “follow” Teams meetings, allowing them to reject a meeting invitation while still staying informed with post-meeting recaps.
