NVIDIA to help Japan develop AI infrastructure with $740 million investment

Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry announced NVIDIA’s key role in developing generative AI infrastructure. With $740 million allocated, local firms will assist in this initiative alongside digital infrastructure providers. Japan aims to fortify its startups, enterprises, and research efforts with advanced AI technologies through sovereign AI concepts. NVIDIA founder and CEO Jensen Huang emphasized the importance of AI factories during a visit to Japan last year. The Japanese government plans to subsidize costs for building AI supercomputers to enhance workforce skills and resilience. SoftBank Corp. announced a ¥150 billion investment to develop Japan’s AI infrastructure, including NVIDIA accelerated computing.
