Boeing shareholders voted to re-elect CEO Dave Calhoun to the board of directors, amidst the latest safety crisis. Calhoun announced he will step down by year’s end following a door plug panel incident on a Boeing 737 Max 9. Boeing’s new chairman, Steve Mollenkopf, is consulting investors and customers on Calhoun’s successor.

The safety issues at Boeing have led to reduced aircraft deliveries, causing airline executives to adjust flight schedules and staffing levels. The strained relationship with the Federal Aviation Administration has resulted in increased inspections. The Justice Department stated that Boeing violated a 2021 settlement related to the two fatal 737 Max crashes, possibly facing U.S. prosecution.
