The deal grants OpenAI access to Reddit’s real-time, structured, and unique data API. Reddit users will gain AI-powered features, and OpenAI will become a Reddit advertising partner. CEO Steve Huffman praised the partnership for offering authentic, relevant, and up-to-date human conversations. The deal aligns with existing content arrangements and API terms, preserving Reddit’s non-commercial API access threshold. OpenAI COO Brad Lightcap expressed excitement about enhancing ChatGPT with timely information from Reddit. Reddit’s recent Wall Street debut saw its value soar close to $9 billion, reflecting its popularity as a platform for diverse discussions and recommendations. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, an early Reddit investor, has become one of the company’s largest shareholders.
