America’s fastest-growing sport, pickleball, has seen a 650% increase in outdoor public park courts in major cities over the past seven years. More than 3,000 courts now exist in 100 of the most populated cities. Franchises, country clubs, and fitness clubs are also joining in on the trend.

City Pickle, founded in 2022 in New York City, offers affordable court access starting at $5 per hour. The group operates 14 courts in Central Park and has expanded to other locations. Co-founders Erica Desai and Mary Cannon are watching for market oversaturation as the sport continues to grow.

Pickleball Kingdom, the world’s largest indoor pickleball facility, is expanding with over 25 new locations across the country. Life Time, with almost 700 pickleball courts in its clubs, is converting locations like a former Bed Bath & Beyond into facilities with multiple indoor courts. CEO Bahram Akradi estimates $60 million investment in the sport.
