Elon Musk publicly disagreed with President Biden’s tariff on Chinese electric vehicles, emphasizing his support for no tariffs or incentives for electric cars at a technology conference in Paris.

Biden administration’s recent announcement of tariffs on Chinese EVs and clean-energy goods drew surprise from Tesla’s CEO, who believes such measures will harm competition and innovation.

Beijing’s subsidies for green energy companies have led to oversupply of EVs and clean energy products, potentially affecting Tesla’s global market share.

Despite recent production and delivery challenges, Tesla reduced prices in China and the US in efforts to boost demand for its luxury electric vehicles.

Tesla’s production at its Giga Shanghai factory has been hampered by slow EV sales and intense competition, leading to limitations in manufacturing of EV parts.

Musk’s deal with Baidu to introduce Tesla’s Full Self-Driving software in China caused a surge in Tesla’s stock price in April, signaling positive developments amid production struggles.
