Elon Musk’s AI startup xAI plans to build a supercomputer to power its AI chatbot Grok by fall 2025. Musk mentioned a potential partnership with Oracle to develop the massive computer, aiming to use Nvidia’s H100 GPUs. The chip clusters would be at least four times larger than any existing clusters. Musk founded xAI last year to challenge Microsoft-backed OpenAI and Google. Training Grok 2 model required 20,000 Nvidia H100 GPUs, with plans for Grok 3 to use 100,000 chips.
