Apple is looking to integrate chatbots like ChatGPT into its operating systems, with rumors of possible partnerships with Google and Anthropic. The focus will be on practical AI applications, including a “smart recap” feature to summarize missed notifications and AI-generated transcripts for the Voice Memo app. Other rumored improvements include on-device Spotlight search, writing suggestions, photo retouching, and emoji generation. Devices released in the last year are expected to gain most AI features, with Siri getting a better voice and functionality on the Apple Watch. Additionally, iOS 18 may introduce the ability to change app icons to different colors, and a new iPhone home screen layout that allows users to place app icons anywhere.
