Warner Bros.’ “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” stars Chris Hemsworth as the villain Dementus in a visually immersive 4DX experience that aims to draw back audiences post-pandemic. 4DX utilizes sensory effects like motion seats, smells, and wind to enhance the movie-watching experience for a higher ticket price, with $53.4 million in domestic sales last year.

Regal Cinemas CEO, Eduardo Acuna, praises 4DX as a key offering to entice moviegoers back to theaters. Regal operates the largest number of 4DX screens domestically and sees the format as a major revenue driver. The immersive experience of 4DX adds another layer to storytelling and boosts enjoyment for movie fans.

4DX is expanding rapidly, adding 25-30 screens annually and aiming for 1,200 locations worldwide in the next five years. The format has proven popular for blockbuster films like Disney’s “Avatar: The Way of Water,” which saw $83.6 million in 4DX ticket sales. Moviegoers can expect sensory enhancements like motion effects, smells, and water sprays in a 4DX viewing of “Furiosa.”
