U.S. stocks closed higher on Monday, with gains in tech, financial, and healthcare sectors. The Dow added 0.01%, S&P 500 gained 0.70%, and Nasdaq climbed 1.10%. Top performers included Intel, JPMorgan, and Apple, while Salesforce, Johnson & Johnson, and Unitedhealth Group were among the worst performers.
Deckers Outdoor and First Solar hit record highs, while Dayforce fell to 52-week lows. Verastem and Genelux dropped to all-time lows. Gold futures rose to $2,352.50, crude oil reached $78.55, and Brent oil traded at $82.82 a barrel. The EUR/USD remained unchanged at 1.09, while the USD/JPY fell to 156.88.
Market volatility measured by the VIX increased by 3.60%. The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.12% at 104.51. On the NASDAQ Composite, top performers included Innovative Eyewear and Akanda Corp, while Verastem Inc was among the worst performers. Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the NYSE and Nasdaq by 0.
