BBVA partners with OpenAI to advance AI capabilities, hiring thousands of professionals

BBVA is the first European bank to partner with OpenAI, showcasing a commitment to innovative technologies impacting the financial sector. Over 7,000 professionals in data and technology have been hired in the past two years, with 2,700 more expected by 2024, including 1,225 in Spain. ChatGPT Enterprise licenses have been deployed to enhance productivity and stimulate innovation across the bank.

OpenAI collaborates with BBVA to provide training for large language models, boosting successful use cases for the bank. BBVA has established AI Factories for advanced analytics and artificial intelligence in Spain, Mexico and Türkiye, with a focus on data and technology as key drivers of transformation for the organization.

The partnership with OpenAI highlights BBVA’s commitment to generative AI to enhance customer offerings. ChatGPT Enterprise licenses are being distributed throughout the bank, with compulsory training for employees to encourage collaboration on various projects. The aim is to stimulate productivity and transform the work environment, leveraging new AI tools responsibly.
