Alibaba launches Alibaba Guaranteed and Logistics Marketplace to boost global logistics services

Alibaba.com, the international B2B arm of Alibaba, launched Alibaba Guaranteed, simplifying cross-border trade for SMEs. The platform offers secure sourcing, fixed prices, guaranteed delivery within 72 hours, and after-sales services. This will boost Alibaba’s global logistics services and aid SMEs in expanding their reach, with revenues from the AIDC segment showing strong growth.

Alibaba unveiled a new affordable Logistics Marketplace for U.S. SMEs to establish tailored logistics solutions. The company also announced a consolidated shipping service in the U.S. through Cainiao, reducing delivery times to as little as five days. These initiatives will enhance Alibaba’s financial performance, despite risks like competitive pressures and rising expenses.

In a competitive logistics space, Alibaba faces strong competition from Amazon, JD.com, and eBay. Amazon’s “Supply Chain by Amazon” service and JD.com’s international express delivery service offer efficient logistics solutions. eBay’s International Shipping Program allows buyers outside the U.S. to purchase items listed on eBay.com. Despite competition and risks, Alibaba’s shares have underperformed in the year-to-date period.

Alibaba’s effort to bolster logistics services with the launch of Alibaba Guaranteed and Logistics Marketplace is crucial for its future growth. It faces competition from industry giants like Amazon, JD.com, and eBay, but the company’s initiatives to streamline logistics services for SMEs in the U.S. and globally will likely drive its financial performance.
