Apple and OpenAI have come together to bring the GPT-4o model to iPhone and other devices. Apple is not paying OpenAI for this partnership, as having access to the technology in front of millions of users is seen as valuable. Users will have access to features powered by ChatGPT without logging in or paying, but can opt for a Plus account for extra perks.

OpenAI could potentially make money by convincing Apple users to pay $20 a month for ChatGPT Plus. Apple could earn a commission if users sign up for the Plus account on Apple devices. Apple aims to generate more revenue from AI by entering revenue-sharing agreements with partners. Discussions are ongoing with Google for Gemini integration and with Anthropic for Claude AI chatbot access on iOS devices later this year.
