Former OpenAI co-founder Ilya Sutskever launched Safe Superintelligence Inc. to focus on safe superintelligence development. Daniel Levy and Daniel Gross are also co-founders. The firm prioritizes safe superintelligence and aims to be a technology-focused lab with no distractions. Investors support their approach.

Safe Superintelligence Inc. plans to advance capabilities quickly while ensuring safety. Management, commercial pressures, and product cycles won’t sway them. The firm has undisclosed financial backers and will be based in Palo Alto, California with offices in Tel Aviv, Israel.

The launch follows a dispute at OpenAI where Sutskever tried to remove CEO Sam Altman. Concerns about AI safety arose, prompting recent departures of safety-conscious employees. Sutskever left OpenAI in May and started Safe Superintelligence to address these issues. He maintains a good relationship with OpenAI despite the new venture.
