OpenAI acquires Rockset for improved data analytics in AI products

OpenAI has acquired Rockset, a real-time analytics startup, to enhance its retrieval infrastructure for AI products. Rockset’s technology allows better data utilization for AI, with some employees joining OpenAI. This marks the first time OpenAI has integrated both a startup’s tech and employees via an acquisition.

Rockset, founded by former Facebook employees, raised $44 million in August and offers users improved data searchability and indexing. The startup’s integration into OpenAI aims to solve large-scale database challenges for AI applications. Rockset assures current customers will have a gradual transition off the platform post-acquisition.

OpenAI’s acquisition of Rockset aims to leverage the latter’s strong data analytics capabilities for AI applications at scale.
