Ilya Sutskever, co-founder of OpenAI, has started a new safety-focused AI company called Safe Superintelligence Inc. The company’s goal is to develop superintelligence while prioritizing safety and security, free from commercial pressures. Sutskever, along with co-founders Daniel Gross and Daniel Levy, are based in Palo Alto and Tel Aviv.

Previously, Sutskever was part of a failed attempt to remove OpenAI CEO Sam Altman. His departure from OpenAI, where he worked on developing artificial general intelligence, was followed by criticism from his team co-leader Jan Leike. The formation of a safety and security committee at OpenAI has been criticized for being mainly composed of company insiders.
