Microsoft deleted instructions for converting Microsoft accounts to Local accounts for Windows 11

Microsoft Corp. (MSFT) has updated its guide on converting Local accounts to Microsoft accounts for Windows 11 and vice versa. Initially, only instructions for Local to Microsoft were included, then reversed. Recent changes saw the deletion of instructions for converting a Microsoft account to a Local one. The original version is still accessible via the Wayback Machine.

The update coincided with the launch of new Surface devices last week. The original guide emphasized benefits of Microsoft accounts for integration, security, and synchronization. Switching from a Microsoft to Local account on Windows 11 is a simple process through the Settings app. Uncertainty remains over the reinstatement of the previous guide if Microsoft updates it.
