Alibaba is ramping up its generative AI efforts with a new AI programmer that saw triple-digit growth in AI-related revenues in Q4 2024. The company also unveiled upgrades to its LLMs and AI model development platform to cater to developers, aiming to solidify its position in the market.
The generative AI market is projected to reach $36.06 billion in 2024 and $356.10 billion by 2030, with a CAGR of 46.5%. Alibaba recently launched Qwen2.5, Tongyi Lingma, and updated Model Studio as part of its generative AI offerings, driving revenue growth for its Cloud Intelligence Group.
Despite strong efforts in generative AI, Alibaba faces tough competition from Microsoft, Amazon, and Alphabet in the market. These tech giants have rolled out their own innovative solutions in AI, posing challenges for Alibaba. However, Alibaba’s focus on AI innovation and portfolio enhancements continues to drive performance.
Alibaba’s shares have declined 1.4% year-to-date, underperforming competitors like Microsoft, Amazon, and Alphabet. Despite challenges and unfavorable estimate revisions, Alibaba remains focused on expanding its generative AI efforts, international commerce, and wholesale businesses to drive future growth and revenue. The company maintains a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold).
