Chinese AI companies are targeting users of OpenAI’s technology in response to reports of restricted access in China and other countries. OpenAI plans to block access to its API platform in certain regions, prompting Chinese firms like Baidu and Alibaba Cloud to offer free migration services and tokens for users transitioning to their platforms. Zhipu AI also introduced a migration program for OpenAI API users, boasting a competitive GLM model against OpenAI’s offerings. Numerous Chinese companies have already developed chatbots powered by their own AI models.
